News reports in Portugal have stated that a huge underwater pyramid has been discovered between the islands of São Miguel and Terceira in the Azores. According to the reports, the pyramid is perfectly square, and oriented by its cardinal points.

The Azores are an interesting region which consists of a chain of nine volcanic islands in three main groups that are roughly 930 miles west of the capital, Lisbon. They are all situated around the fault lines between the North American, Eurasian and African tectonic plates.

The pyramid was found in an area of the mid-Atlantic and it is believed that the structure has been underwater for about 20,000 years, which is considered to be the time of the last ice age where glaciers were melting.

Last spring, Diocleciano Silva was sailing his yacht in the Azores near Portugal when his GPS hit on a perfectly square...thing just 40 meters off the coast of Terciara. Estimated at 60 meters tall and perfectly square, GPS imaging recorded the structure as a sort of underwater pyramid "...perfectly shaped and apparently oriented by the cardinal points," Silva Diário Insular, told the local newspaper.

Since then there has been a firestorom of speculation and controversy over the possible discovery or hoax of the 'Azores Pyramid'. According to Collective-Evolution.com, the pyramid was found in an area of the mid-Atlantic that has been underwater for about 20,000 years. Considering this is around the time of the last ice age where glaciation was melting from its peak 2000 years prior, an unknown civilization predating the ice age, is the only thing that could be responsible for building a pyramid.

Diocleciano Silva couldn't believe what his eyes were telling him. As he was sailing in the Atlantic Ocean looking for fish, he spotted a perfectly-shaped pyramid structure on the sonar.

After checking the GPS devices and maps again, Silva confirmed that the unknown underwater construction was lying at 40 meters (131 feet). Square, and aligned with the four cardinal compass directions. The pyramid's base is estimated to have 8000 square meters.

The strange discovery was reported to the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute. Could it be an old civilization, a volcanic construction, the effects of ice age glaciation?

A huge pyramid had been discovered off the Azores islands by Portuguese amateur sailor Diocletian Silva.

The 60m-tall structure was found underwater between the islands of Sao Miguel and Tercira. Its base measures 8,000 sq m - bigger than a football field - and Silva believes it was man-made.

He says his find may be a remnant of the legendary lost world of Atlantis, which sank into the ocean after a failed attempt to invade Athens.

Silva found the pyramid around five months ago while fishing on his yacht in the area. He discovered the structure through bathymetric navigation and its tip is submerged around 40ft.

Giant Underwater Pyramid Found Near Azores Island Associated With Atlantis, Portuguese Navy Investigating.

Researchers have discovered an underwater pyramid 60 meters high and 8000 meters square base near the Bank De João de Castro, between the islands of Terceira and São Miguel.

The structure was identified by the sailor Diocleciano Smith (in this video) based on bathymetry readings. The author does not believe that the pyramid is of natural origin.

The matter is already being investigated with the support of the Portuguese Navy.

Terceira, is an island in the Azores archipelago, in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. Researchers (I’m not sure what they’re researching, the ocean?) have discovered what appears to be a giant underwater pyramid in the middle of the ocean near an area known as the Bank De Joao de Castro. This is in between the islands of Terceira and Sao Miguel, in the middle of the Azores archipelago which is situated in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. The pyramid is allegedly 60m high and has a base of 8000 square metres which makes it a pretty significant structure, even if it is sitting on the ocean floor.

It was discovered by sailor Diocleciano Silva via bathymetry readings (these are actually a really concept – it’s the study of the underwater depth of lake or ocean floors) and is currently being seriously investigated by these researchers with the assistance of the Portuguese Navy. Diocleciano Silva doesn’t believe that the pyramid can possible be of man made origin given where it is located but no definitive answers about it have been given yet. However, given the fact that the area has been underwater for 20,000 years since the last ice age, it definitely seems like something out of the ordinary is up with it.

Underwater Pyramid

Legends of an advanced prehistoric civilization know as Atlantis have been around since the beginning of history, but previously those who searched for it were divided whether or not it was located near the Azores, South America or elsewhere.

From as far back as Plato it was suggested the original builders of the pyramids lived west of Gibraltar, but findings of Machu Picchu, and other curiosities in the Mediterranean, led people to believe it was on the other side of the Atlantic.

According to Diocleciano Silva, the newly discovered Pyramid is sixty meters tall with a base of approximately 8,000 square meters. It is around forty meters below water and aligned with the four cardinal compass directions, similar to the Great Pyramid of Giza.
